CHOOSING A SCHOOL
Live lessons or self-paced learning?
Start with the shape of your family’s day, not the name of the school.
Two different kinds of flexibility
Live classes put a teacher and a class into the same scheduled session. Self-paced courses let a learner choose when to work. Neither description tells you everything about feedback, workload or help: ask about those separately.
Try a realistic week
Write down your child’s available hours, your work commitments and the times when an adult can help. Compare that calendar with a sample school timetable. For self-paced courses, reserve time for reviewing work and keeping momentum.
Questions to take to a school
Who answers when a child is stuck? How soon do they respond? Who marks written work? Can a missed lesson be revisited? Request a sample lesson and explain your time zone before committing.
